Field Thistle (Cirisium discolor)


     Field Thistle is a native, perennial wildflower that grows three to five feet tall. It has a pale purple flowerhead that is two inches wide with a large, green, spiny base. It has long, spine tipped, lobed leaves. The leaves can be six to 12 inches long.  It grows in dry, sunny areas in open fields and along roads. (SF)
