Poke Milkweed is a native perennial that can grow up to six feet tall. Its flowers are white and grow in clusters at the top of the stem. The flowers are about 1/4 inch long and have five petals that curve backward. Its leaves are large and oval-shaped, with a pointed tip. They are arranged opposite each other on the stem. Poke Milkweed is found in moist woodlands, along streams, and in swamps. (LS)
